Understanding Ransomware as a Business - A SCIP Members Only E-Learning Event

Presenter: Allan Liska, Solutions Architect, Recorded Future

In 2016, ransomware became a billion dollar business. While it is strange to think of hacker activity as a business, many hacker groups operate in the same manner as a business and treating them like a business can help organizations better protect themselves from ransomware. Treating the groups behind ransomware as a business means understanding how they operate, how they deliver their services, who they are targeting, what their pricing models look like, and learning their weaknesses. It also means understanding what steps your organization needs to do in order to protect itself from these groups. Essentially, in the same way that any organization collects intelligence on its competitors, the best way to protect against ransomware is to collect intelligence on the people behind the attack campaigns and the product they deliver (in this case, ransomware).
In this talk, Allan Liska (Solutions Architect, Recorded Future) will briefly cover the history of ransomware, will explain why there has been an explosion of ransomware attacks, and will describe how ransomware is typically delivered. He will also provide an overview of ways that organizations can better understand who is behind ransomware campaigns, what their delivery methods are, why all of this matters, and how organizations can protect themselves from ransomware.

Takeaways:
A fundamental understanding of the type of malicious software called ransomware.
Comprehension of the factors that make businesses vulnerable to ransomware attacks.
Best practices for treating hackers and ransomware like a business in order to defend against it.

Employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS)

Few organizations can achieve or sustain high customer retention without driven, productive, and engaged employees. Engaged employees approach their jobs with energy, which in turn delivers productivity, innovation and customer excellence for the organization.
Organizational managers therefore, have good reason to want to measure that enthusiasm and the loyalty levels of their employees. This means understanding employee engagement levels and how to improve them. Employee Net Promoter Scores (eNPS) are an early warning mechanism for gauging employee enthusiasm and commitment to the organization.

This webinar will detail the eNPS concept and what organizations need to do in order to obtain additional critical employee metrics, in conjunction with eNPS, to finally provide visibility into the people side of an organization. The insight and intelligence will allow an organization to more effectively manage and motivate employees.
